A friendly yet urgent reminder: all coaches and on ice helpers (including service providers) must wear a CSA-approved helmet with chin strap fastened. Otherwise, there’s big insurance trouble. If someone doesn’t wear a helmet, the event is not sanctioned and there’s no insurance for it.

Bantam A1 Brings Home Hardware
The Bantam A1 team earned a silver medal at the North Delta Tournament held December 17-19. In addition, they were the least penalized team by a heavy margin and received the Most Sportsmanlike Team award. One week later, they attended the Burnaby Minor Hockey Bantam AAA tournament held December 27-31. As a result, they received the Cy Balfry Award for the Most Sportsmanlike Team yet again.
Mr. Balfry was a long-time volunteer in the Burnaby Minor Hockey association and served two years as BMHA President (’78-’80 and ’85-‘87). The significance of this award is that Mr. Balfry is the late grandfather to Harry and Jackson Tadey. Jackson is a player on the Bantam A1 team and father Joe Tadey is a NVMHA Coach on both the Bantam A1 and A3 teams. The award was presented by Mr. Balfry’s daughter Shannon, Jackson’s mother.

Midget Scholarship Tournament Sunday Jan. 16, 5 pm at Karen Magnussen
Cole Northey, Andrew Celmainis, Victor Sun, and Spencer Wright (affiliated with North West Giants Major Midget team) of NVMHA were named to the Greater Vancouver Canucks A1 team for the PCAHA Midget Scholarship Tournament. The tournament is at Karen Magnussen Arena on Sunday Jan 16 at 5pm vs Fraser Valley Oilers. Spectators welcome!
