New Goalie Development Lead
NVMHA is pleased to announce that Allan Russell will be joining the association as our new Goalie Lead.
With a passion for video and analytics, Allan is currently the Video Coach for the Trinity Western University Spartans during their inaugural 2021-22 season in Canada West. He is also working with the Botany Swarm of the New Zealand Ice Hockey League (NZIHL) providing stats and analytics. In 2020, Allan has enjoyed working closely with the coaching staff of BCHL’s Coquitlam Express during their extended training camp by providing all of their video, statistics, and analytic needs.
At the youth level, Allan is a certified BC Hockey Coach for Development 1, Coach 1 & 2 and hopes to pursue further development in the future. He has fervently spent the last eight-plus (8+) years working with NVMHA in various roles such as a Goalie Evaluator, Goalie Skills Coach, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and as a consultant on various projects. In addition to working with NVMHA, Allan has spent time doing consultations, evaluations, and spring programs with several other minor hockey associations throughout BC’s Lower Mainland.
Originally hailing from Nanaimo, he played minor hockey with the Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association (NMHA) where he was invited to try-outs with various teams within the BCHL, RMJHL, and AWHL before playing Junior stints in the VIJHL, KIJHL, RMJHL, as well as at the Senior AAA level.
Allan is extremely excited for the opportunity to work as Goaltender Lead with NVMHA and looks forward to being a great resource for all coaches, players, and parents.
