Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP)

Teams must have one HCSP certified person on their roster. Certification must be completed by December 1.

The Hockey Canada Safety Program utilizes a proactive, preventative, common sense approach to keeping our children safe. The goal of the program is for the safety people to implement effective risk management programs with their own teams where player safety is the first priority at all times, both on and off the ice.

The safety person is a volunteer who has received HCSP accreditation (even if the individual is a medical professional).  The program must only be successfully completed every three (3) years in order to be a team’s safety person.

Volunteers to be an HCSP person this year that have yet to complete the course, or those that may now be interested in taking on this role, should click on the attached link to sign up for and complete the course.   A minimum of one HCSP person is required on each team so it doesn’t matter that you don’t know yet which team you are on.

The course takes just 3 hours and is broken up into 36 small sections so starting, stopping and going back to review is very easy.  As a team official at NVMHA, the cost of a successful completion of this course is reimbursed.  Please supply your receipt either to your team manager or to myself.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference with not a lot of work.
