PLAYER SKILLS EVALUATION

Each player will participate in one skills session. Players will be split into groups and assessed by external evaluators.

This phase is designed to assess a player's raw technical abilities in a controlled setting. Evaluators will focus on the following core skills:

  • Skating
  • Shooting
  • Passing
  • Puck Handling and Control

GOALIE SKILLS EVALUATION

All goalies will be evaluated at a specific goalie-only session, led by the goalie group.

Technical Skills: Goaltenders will be evaluated on their skating and movement (T-pushes, C-cuts, shuffles, and butterfly slides), stance and positioning (balance, pad placement, and proper angles to the puck), rebound control (deflecting shots to the corners or freezing loose pucks), and puck handling (forehand and backhand passing).

GAMEPLAY ASSESSMENT

This phase is designed to assess individual players' gameplay, not to evaluate teams or balance them. These assessments will be conducted by external evaluators. After this phase, teams will be placed into their Working Groups. Coaches will have access to practice times to work with and assess the players, which will help with the next phase of evaluations.
After the evaluation games, all tryout jerseys must be returned
During game-like scrimmages, the focus shifts to a player's "game-situation" attributes. These are the qualities that emerge in a competitive environment:
  • Positional Play
  • Hockey Sense
  • Effort
  • Compete
  • Sportsmanship
