NV Junior Coaching Program
Developing Future Leaders & Building Community
North Vancouver Minor Hockey is proud to introduce the Junior Coaching Program. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between playing and coaching, offering our older athletes the opportunity to give back to the association while developing valuable leadership skills.
Who Can Join?
This program is open to all current U15 and U18 players within the association.
Program Overview
The Junior Coaching Program is a volunteer mentorship role. Participants will transition from player to leader through a two-step process:
-
Development: Junior coaches will work directly with our Coaching Development Team to learn the fundamentals of coaching and communication
-
Placement: Once prepared, Junior Coaches will be paired with a younger NVMHA team to assist their coaching staff for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
Why Become a Junior Coach?
Participating in this program is about more than just being on the ice; it is about building community and preparing for the future.
-
Career Pathways: Junior Coaches will receive opportunities to assist in other areas of NVMHA operations. Additionally, successful participants will receive recommendations to NVRC and Canlan for paid positions within their skating and hockey programs.
-
Leadership Experience: Gain hands-on experience in leadership and mentorship that looks excellent on resumes and post-secondary applications.
-
Give Back: Help develop the next generation of NVMHA players and strengthen the bond across our divisions.
